My name is Kimberly, and I serve as the community relations coordinator for Inner Spark Creative. A little over a year ago, my boyfriend and I had this crazy idea to give up great job offers, job promotions, and a lovely home to move from Florida to Jarrett's hometown of Auburn, Alabama. The plan – open a full-service creative agency. In fifteen months, we started the business, married, moved, renovated a cottage, and began renovating the office. Now we are nearing our one-year anniversary as a business!
As a new resident of Auburn, I am enjoying getting to know the area and the people. I'm a coastal girl, originally from Mobile, Alabama, and a resident of Pensacola, Florida, for six years, and am adjusting to the differences here – namely, no ocean. However, I like Auburn, and one of the qualities that I enjoy most about Auburn is the great sense of community found here. There's a palpable sense of pride: residents are always wearing orange and blue or Auburn gear; Auburn stickers and tags and tiger tails grace the backs of vehicles; and a “War Eagle!” is always on the lips of someone you meet walking down the street.
As someone who has devoted my education and career to studying community, I am excited to get involved, both personally and in business. My job here is to establish relationships with community organizations and businesses. Inner Spark Creative is here for the community – whether that is accomplished by helping businesses and nonprofits succeed at their marketing and advertising or assisting in community projects. As active participants in both the Auburn and Opelika Chambers of Commerce, I expect an abundance of great projects to participate in the coming year.
My biggest project now: planning our ribbon cutting! Stay tuned for updates on this exciting event, and be sure to check back for my upcoming blog post about the importance of marketing and advertising for nonprofits.
